Sunday

Hey all. It is Sunday all ready. Do you know what that means? Tomorrow is Christmas Eve. My kids are so excited. They can not wait to open their presents. I think they also get real excited giving me and their Dad the presents they bought. I am done baking and wrapping everything. What a relief. The kids are both working today so the house is quiet. Calling Cards

Hey all. I was on the internet this afternoon and I came across an interesting site that I wanted to pass on to you all as well.
phone card is a site designated to the sales of calling cards. This site has more of a variety of calling cards than I have seen anywhere. If you are someone that does a fair amount of traveling whether it is business or pleasure, there is no longer a need to use the hotel phones as these calling cards will replace that expense. Many of them are both rechargeable and pinless cards and they can be used in just about any foreign country. You now have the ability to call back to your home and at a huge savings over conventional phones. The prepaid phone cards would be ideal for a college student traveling abroad for a semeter. They are non rechargeable and offer the greatest rates out there. If you are in the market for a phone card for what ever your circumstance, I suggest that you check out this site as they are sure to fit your needs. All this at a great price as well.

AdoTube

Hey all. I was on the internet this afternoon and I came across an interesting site for all us bloggers that I wanted to pass on to you all as well.
AdoTube.com is a great money making idea. It is as simple as this, for those of you that may have a video on your blog, you can allow an advertiser to run an ad on your video. The whole concept is simple and easy to use. The ads are targeted on your site according to demographics and by doing this simple method, it allows you to profit the most financially from this concept. The clever and new idea is becoming more and more popular as bloggers are looking for ways to generate revenue from the comforts of their home. If this is a concept that you feel you would find interesting then I suggest you check out this innovative site. It is relatively new concept and has a lot of potential for the future of bloggers. Enclosed is also a press release that you can read to learn more as well.

Press Release:

Blogs, online Web logs or journals, have become wildly popular -- so much so that Business Week printed an article, earlier this year, to shed some light on just how many blogs there are and how often people participate in this form of communication. They reported that there are over 70 million blogs worldwide, with over 15 million of them being considered active, that is, updated regularly.
Research shows that about 1.5 million new blog posts are created every day. Most bloggers set out to make money from their blogs, yet the majority of them don’t know the most lucrative routes to take in order to make that actually happen.
“There are people out there making a living off of blogging, and there are some making just a little bit each month,” explains Leo Grzhonko, president of Adotube.com. “The difference between making nothing and getting paid each month to share your thoughts on a blog comes down to taking advantage of proper revenue channels.”
There are many routes people can take in an effort to raise money from their blog. But if people aren’t keeping up on the latest methods, they may not be getting what they could in return. Many bloggers have taken advantage of the viewer’s love of watching online videos, coupled with their experience of not wanting to be interrupted by advertisements. This route is one that many find in the AdoTube Interactive In-Stream Media Player Technology. They have made it as easy as showing online videos with an intriguing “roll-over mouse” message. When the mouse rolls over the area, an interactive ad -- demographically targeted for the viewer -- appears.
“Our opt-in advertising technology was created for those seeking a simple and effective way to make money online,” adds Grzhonko. “We refer to it as the in-stream interactive online video monetizing solution. With this, anyone can take their blog or Web site and turn it into a profitable venture

Audio Visual Experiences

Hey all. I was on the internet this evening and I came across an interesting site that I wanted to pass on to you all as well.
audio visual equipment and installations is a site that deals with the area of audio visual equipment. This area of interest is all that they deal in whether it is in the public sector or the private, they can assist you in your needs. Their goal in the business is to make their client happy and pleased with their outcome and they do this through their high quality standards. I believe that many of us had an exciting computer audio visual experience. I know mine was an exciting one, that is for sure. I was with my family and they all wanted to view one of those shows that uses 360 degree surround. I was very hesitant as I frequently get motion sickness. As everyone assured me, there will be no problem as you are just standing and viewing a show. Well I should have trusted my own instincts as I could not believe the whole show. The movie itself was awesome along with the surround sound and all. It was truely realistic, but to my surprise. it was indeed very realistic. It proceeded to make me feel very queezy. I could not believe that simply watching a show on a very large screen could make me feel as I was feeling. It was quite an experience though. And all though I will not step foot in a show as this one, it was well done and very clever.

Shop til you drop

Hey all. The holidays are almost here. I have been shopping in between my baking. Yesterday I made coconut nut balls. They came out great. I also made up a gift basket for the piano teacher and put some of my home made minnestrone soup in it as well. Biotene

Hey all. I was on the internet this afternoon and I came across a very helpful site that I wanted to pass on to you all as well.
sensitive teeth is the perfect site to check out if you suffer from sensitive teeth problems as I do. The problem does come and go, but when I am having a flare up, it drives me crazy. I know with the holidays just around the corner, the last thing that I want to occuthe severe pain that goes along with a sensitive tooth. My last major flare up was about six months ago. My husband and I were at my cousin's wedding. Out of the blue, when I tasted to the soup, which by the way was delicious, I felt an extreme pain go through my mouth. It was driving me crazy. Let me tell you that when the pain hits, nothing can really help but laying down and taking something for the pain. It basically ruined the rest of my evening, especially seeing all the delicious food and not being able to eat any of it. This was a time that I really wish that I had something for the pain like, sensitive toothpaste. It would have made such a huge difference. I know that it would have made the evening at the reception so much more enjoyable. If any of you out there suffer from sensitive teeth as I do, I strongly suggest that you check out this site as this product works wonders. It does not just temporarily mask the sensitive pain as some of the toothpaste products do these days, this product actually treats the pain from the sensitivity. Along with sensitivity, it also aids in the treatment of dry mouth. One of their key ingredients, potassium nitrate, aids in this prevention and as I said earlier, it actually treats it and not just a temporay relief. This product can be a life saver next time you experience a flare up. Be sure to check out this site. It will truely be a help to you.

For those of you that enjoy italian cooking, you are sure to enjoy this as well. Be sure to checkit out and tell me what yoy think of it. Happy Holidays.

Sauce:
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
4 teaspoons all-purpose flour
1 1/4 cups whole milk
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
Pinch ground nutmeg

Lasagna:
1 (15-ounce) container whole milk ricotta cheese
1 (10-ounce) package frozen chopped spinach, thawed, squeezed dry
1 cup plus 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan
3 ounces thinly sliced prosciutto, chopped
1 large egg, beaten to blend
3/4 teaspoon salt, plus more for salting water
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 to 2 tablespoons olive oil
12 uncooked lasagna noodles
2 cups marinara sauce
1 cup shredded mozzarella (about 4 ounces)

To make the sauce: Melt the butter in a heavy medium saucepan over medium-low heat. Add the flour and whisk for 3 minutes. Whisk in the milk. Increase the heat to medium-high. Whisk the sauce until it comes to a simmer and is thick and smooth, about 3 minutes. Whisk the salt, pepper, and nutmeg into the bechamel sauce.

Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F.

Whisk the ricotta, spinach, 1 cup Parmesan, prosciutto, egg, salt, and pepper in a medium bowl to blend.

Add a tablespoon or 2 of oil to a large pot of boiling salted water. Boil the noodles until just tender but still firm to bite. Drain. Arrange the noodles in a single layer on a baking sheet to prevent them from sticking.

Butter a 13-by-9-by-2-inch glass baking dish. Pour the bechamel sauce over the bottom of the prepared dish. Lay out 4 lasagna noodles on a work surface, then spread about 3 tablespoons of ricotta mixture evenly over each noodle. Starting at 1 end, roll each noodle like a jelly roll. Lay the lasagna rolls seam side down, without touching, atop the bechamelsauce in the dish. Repeat with the remaining noodles and ricotta mixture. Spoon 1 cup of marinara sauce over the lasagna rolls. Sprinkle the mozzarella and remaining 2 tablespoons of Parmesan over the lasagna rolls. Cover tightly with foil. Bake until heated through and the sauce bubbles, about 20 minutes. Uncover and bake until the cheese on top becomes golden, about 15 minutes longer. Let stand for 10 minutes. Meanwhile, heat the remaining marinara sauce in a heavy small saucepan over medium heat until hot, and serve alongside.

More cookies

Hey all. I did some baking today but not much. As I said we are leaving to visit my daughter soon. Well here is todays recipe for cookies. i hope that you enjoy it. Please give it a try. Your house will smell great as well. They are easy to make as well. Let me know they are white chocolate holiday bark for all you chocolate lovers out there.

1 pound finely chopped white chocolate
1 1/2 teaspoons nut or plain oil
1/2 cup dried cranberries
1 1/4 cups shelled pistachio nuts, toasted and papery coating peeled
Equipment: Chocolate thermometer

Tempering the chocolate for the bark requires a double boiler. If you don't have a double boiler, improvise one by using a saucepan and a stainless steel bowl: Nestle the bowl into the saucepan, allowing a few inches of space to remain between the bottom of the bowl and the bottom of the saucepan. Keep an extra bowl of a similar size on hand to transfer the chocolate for cooling. Rest the chocolate thermometer on a towel. Line a baking sheet with foil.

Pour a couple inches of water into the bottom half of the double boiler and heat over medium-low to just below a simmer. Put the chocolate in the top half of the double boiler and set over the hot water. Slowly melt the chocolate, stirring with a heat-resistant rubber spatula. As the chocolate melts, check the temperature periodically to make sure it stays between 82 and 86 degrees F. If it starts to rise above this temperature, quickly transfer the chocolate to the bowl on reserve and stir briskly to reduce heat. Return bowl to double boiler to maintain heat between 82 and 86 degrees F.

Remove bowl from over the hot water just before all the chocolate melts. Stir vigorously until the chocolate melts completely. Check temperature again. Stir in the oil until evenly blended. Chocolate is now tempered and ready to use. Keep within the 82 to 86 degree F range, returning bowl briefly to the double boiler if necessary.

Quickly stir the fruit and nuts into the chocolate. Spread chocolate mixture out on the prepared baking sheet so it's about 1/2-inch thick and the fruit and nuts are coated. Set bark aside at room temperature to harden. Break into angled pieces. Store in an airtight container at room temperature.

Johnny Depp stars in this movie, therefore you know it will be an awesome show. He portrays a man who has is all, family happiness, the whole package. He is sent to prison unfairly ans in the process, he vows revenge. The revenge is not only for his unjust punishment, but for what has happened to his beloved wife and daughter, their murders as well. When out of prison, he returns as Sweeney Todd, the Barber of fleet street, whose horrid revenge is too shave the heads of the gentlemen. Sweeney's accomplice in this whole plot is Mrs. Lovett, who with these bodies prepares meat pies.
I was then on a site relating to this scary movie that discusses and better yet, allows you to vent and confess your past or present revenges that you may have had. The site is http://www.buzznet.com/profile/sweeneytodd/ and I encourage you to check it out and also add your revenge to the list all ready there. It is a well done and clever site. I plan to add one of mine as well. I must too cofess an occurance that I had years ago and here is my dashboard confessional also. It was the holidays and I had this one relative that I never got along with, the one that always wants to one up you. We were planning a huge New Years party and neglected to invite her. Though I felt a bit guilty, it was great not having her there, we asked what we were doing that evening by her, I told her we were staying in, never mentioned that we were having a huge party withall the relatives. She never found out about it, but I was just so sick of her, that she was the last person I wanted to ring in the New Years with. If you have a confessional, check out the site and add yours as well. Also, be sure to check out this Tim Burton movie around the Christmas holiday. Sweeney Todd, it is sure to a hit. To learn more and check out more go to visit Sweeney Todd on MySpace .

Monday cookie recipe

Hey all. I began baking this past weekend. The house just smelled great. Can you believe Christmas is in just a few short weeks? My kids are so excited. It is great. Well here is another great recipe. I love it and i hope thatyou will give it a try. Let me know what you think.
Biscotti

10 tablespoons unsalted butter (1 stick plus 2 tablespoons)
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 3/4 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon fine salt
3 large eggs
1 1/4 cups sugar
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
1/2 cup smooth natural peanut butter, room temperature
1 1/4 cups dry roasted peanuts
1 1/4 cups chopped dark chocolate or chocolate chunks (about 6 ounces)

Position racks evenly in the oven and preheat to 350 degrees F. Line 3 baking sheets with parchment paper.

Melt the butter over medium heat, swirling the pan occasionally. Continue to cook until the butter browns and gets a nutty aroma, about 5 minutes. Let cool slightly.

Whisk the flour, baking powder, and salt together in a large bowl.

Beat the eggs in a medium bowl with an electric mixer until light and pale yellow, about 2 minutes. Gradually add the sugar while beating. Then slowly add the butter and vanilla until evenly mixed, about 30 seconds more. Add the peanut butter and mix until combined.

While mixing slowly, add the dry ingredients to the wet, in 2 additions, mixing just until absorbed. Fold in the peanuts and chocolate pieces.

Divide the dough evenly into thirds, and put each portion in the center of a baking sheet. Shape the dough with slightly wet hands into logs about 2-inches wide and 15 inches long. Bake until set and brown around the edges, about 25 to 30 minutes. (For even baking take care to rotate the pans-- top to bottom and front to back--about half way though.) Cool logs on the baking sheets for about 10 minutes.

Lower the oven temperature to 325 degrees F. Carefully transfer the logs to a cutting board. Cut logs crosswise, with a long serrated knife at about a 45 degree angle, into 1/2-inch thick cookies. Place cookies cut side down on the baking sheets. Bake until crisp, about 8 minutes. Flip the cookies over and bake until golden brown, about 8 minutes more. Cool biscotti on the baking sheets.

Freeze It Gel is an awesome product that soothes many aches and pains including arthritis and sore joints to name a few. This makes me think of my husband, who many years ago played high school football and at one of the games he was injuried. He tore all the ligiments in his right ankle. To this day, many years later, it still causes his a lot of discomfort, especially in the cold months and also first thing in the morning. He has tried FreezeIt with great results as it helps the pain greatly for him. He goes through quite a bit of it, especially in the colder months. I know it would make him a lot more comfortable as there are times he just has to sit and elevate his ankle as it is so painful and does get swollen at times as well. Though it was crazy that he hurt himself so bad playing football, it is over and done with, now he just has to learn to deal with it. This product is sure to help him in that undertaking. Freeze It comes on a gel form an is also great in the treatment of sore muscles, neck and back pain, arthritis pain, which so many people deal with these days. Also great for knee, hip, and ankle joints, my husband is here. If you suffer and deal with any of these problems, this is the site to check out and learn more about this product. It will work wonders for you too, I am sure. Check out the commercial that I embedded as well.

1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
2 cups canned pumpkin, mashed
1 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 egg plus 2 egg yolks, slightly beaten
1 cup half-and-half
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) melted butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger, optional
1 piece pre-made pie dough
Whipped cream, for topping

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Place 1 piece of pre-made pie dough down into a (9-inch) pie pan and press down along the bottom and all sides. Pinch and crimp the edges together to make a pretty pattern. Put the pie shell back into the freezer for 1 hour to firm up. Fit a piece of aluminum foil to cover the inside of the shell completely. Fill the shell up to the edges with pie weights or dried beans (about 2 pounds) and place it in the oven. Bake for 10 minutes, remove the foil and pie weights and bake for another 10 minutes or until the crust is dried out and beginning to color.

For the filling, in a large mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese with a hand mixer. Add the pumpkin and beat until combined. Add the sugar and salt, and beat until combined. Add the eggs mixed with the yolks, half-and-half, and melted butter, and beat until combined. Finally, add the vanilla, cinnamon, and ginger, if using, and beat until incorporated.

Pour the filling into the warm prepared pie crust and bake for 50 minutes, or until the center is set. Place the pie on a wire rack and cool to room temperature. Cut into slices and top each piece with a generous amount of whipped cream.

This product especially stands out among toothpastes for sensitive teeth as it provides you with the maximum sensitivity relief along with the fact that this toothpast will not just pretend to get rid of the sensitivity, but rather it will actually resolve the issue and rid you of the problem all together. I recall a time not all that long ago when I really could have benefitted from this product. We were at a wedding reception and my front teeth were especially sensitive that day. Actually they were driving me crazy. I took some tylenol, but that really did not do anything. I was not able to enjoy all the great food that was available at the reception as well. All I could think about was how sore my mouth was, instead of having a good time at the reception. This was a time that I now wish I knew about this product as it could have made all the difference in the world for me that day. Instead of barely eating anything, I could have enjoyed the huge food buffet as most everyone did. If you are ever faced with this situation, I urge you to check out this product. It is available at stores such as CVS, Rite-Aid, Walgreen's and other leading retailers. Believe me, this product can make all the difference in the world if you are a sufferer of sensitive teeth as I am.
Be sure to check it out.

Sensitivetoothpaste is a product you do not want to be without when your teeth are causing you pain.

Homemade Dinner

Hey all. I was on the internet this afternoonand I came across a great site that I wanted to pass on to you all as the holidays are approaching. Hamilton Beach® Mixer is a great site for any of you that enjoy cooking and baking as I do. I have a great biscotti recipe that I love to make during the holidays and this mixer would be perfect. The Hamilton Beach® Stand Mixer is a stand out mixer. The three year warranty and quiet operation are just some of the features I am impressed with. Also with 400 watts of power, making the biscotti would be a breeze. I am sure to add this to my wish list as the twelve settings would allow me to prepare just about anything. Here is my biscotti recipe that I wanted to share with you. The family loves and I am sure you will too.
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, room temperature
1 teaspoon grated lemon zest
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 large eggs
3/4 cup pistachios, coarsely chopped
2/3 cup dried cranberries
12 ounces good-quality white chocolate, chopped
Red and green sugar crystals, for garnish

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Line a heavy large baking sheet with parchment paper. Whisk the flour and baking powder in a medium bowl to blend. Using an electric mixer, beat the sugar, butter, lemon zest, and salt in a large bowl to blend. Beat in the eggs 1 at a time. Add the flour mixture and beat just until blended. Stir in the pistachios and cranberries.

Form the dough into a 13-inch long, 3-inch wide log on the prepared baking sheet. Bake until light golden, about 40 minutes. Cool for 30 minutes.

Place the log on the cutting board. Using a sharp serrated knife, cut the log on a diagonal into 1/2 to 3/4-inch-thick slices. Arrange the biscotti, cut side down, on the baking sheet. Bake the biscotti until they are pale golden, about 15 minutes. Transfer the biscotti to a rack and cool completely.

Stir the chocolate in a bowl set over a saucepan of simmering water until the chocolate melts. Dip half of the biscotti into the melted chocolate. Gently shake off the excess chocolate. Place the biscotti on the baking sheet for the chocolate to set. Sprinkle with the sugar crystals. Refrigerate until the chocolate is firm, about 35 minutes

I hope that you enjoy it and be sure to check out this site Eclectrics® Mixer as the site is impressive.

Shopping

Hey all. I am heading out to go grocery shopping. I am not taking my Mom this week as she is vacationing in Florida. I hope that she is having a great time. She is visiting her brother who now lives down there. They are both getting up in age, so it is important to her to visit with him. She will be back next week and I can not wait to hear about her trip. More to follow.

Digital Cameras

Hey all. I was on the internet this morning and I came across an interesting site that I wanted to pass on to you all as well, especially with the holidays soon approaching.
scrapbooking is a site dealing with digital cameras. My daughter recently graduated from high school and that was the one gift she wanted her Dad and I to get her as a graduation present. We purchased for her a canon rebel with a 10.2 megapixil. She absolutely loves it and soon after she graduated, we went on a cruise. I must say that that camera became well used. She took hundreds of pictures and the memories are preserved thanks to that camera. With the zoom lens, she was able to take some great pictures of the awesome flowers in Bermuda as well. I think that she enjoys that camera most for taking pictures of various scenery views. I know that she has taken a lot of the recent picturesque flaming foliage as well. I know the best feature on that camera is the zoom lens we purchased for her. She has captured some beautiful flowers really up close as well. With the holidays right around the corner, what a thoughtful gift to give to that special someone, a new digital camera. Using a digital camera allows you to capture all those special memories, and share them with others as you upload them onto your computer and e-mail the pictures to family and friends that are far away. I know that we frequently do this as we have close family in other states.
If you are planning on purchasing a camera with the holidays arriving, I strongly suggest that you check out this site as you will be glad that you did. Happy Holidays as well.
