Hey all. I was on the internet this afternoon and I came across an interesting site that those of you especially interested in the environment, will be interested in reading. This discusses the BP factories and their effects in Whiting, Indiana. Their goal at BP is to minimize the effects of their fuel on the environment. According to an interesting article that I read, Facts about the BP Whiting Refinery, here are some of the key topics according to this article. BP plans to spend more than $3 billion to modernize the Whiting Refinery to process additional heavy crude oil from Canada, a secure and reliable source. Also according to the article, in Fuel for the Midwest, The Whiting Refinery produces gasoline, diesel and jet fuel people need for their daily lives. BP has remained well within their legal limits and their has been no harm to people or the environment. They operate with only modern technology, and they continue to provide jobs now and in the future months to the area.
Another key topic in the article stated, For the benefit of the environment the Whiting Refinery voluntarily reduced total suspended solids in its water discharge by 40 per cent in just the past four years. The following is the Whiting Refinery fact sheet, factsheet . I suggest you read up on this article as I found it to be very interesting and I am sure thatyou will as well.
